President Nazarbayev to arrive to Serbia on official visit .

Nursultan Nazarbayev will pay official visit to Serbia until the end of this year. According to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Hungary, Serbia and Macedonia Nurbakh Rustemov, the trip will be the first in the history of bilateral relations. In addition, the Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic will also arrive to Kazakhstan on official visit, as well as exchange of parliamentary delegations will also take place.   Nurbakh RUSTEMOV, AMBASSADOR OF KAZAKHSTAN TO HUNGARY, MACEDONIA AND SERBIA: We had a confidential nature of the relationship at the political level. Speaking about trade and economic aspect, we have a duty-free trade regime. We hope, the first meeting of the intergovernmental commission will be held on the eve of the visit of our president in Serbia, and we will establish a Business Council. This work is going very well.   Diplomatic ties between Kazakhstan and Serbia was established in 1996. The trade turnover between the states in the past year exceeded $55 million. The countries have a visa-free regime up to 30 days.


Government takes Nurly Zhol program under special control

Kazakh government may redistribute the funds allocated as part of Nurly Zhol program. The Prime Minister Karim Massimov instructed the Minister of national economy to prepare proposals this week, and the next – the regions unable to utilize the funds will be likely to lose them in favor of feasible projects. According to the Ministry, only about 12% out of 840 billion tenge allocated under Nurly Zhol program have been utilized since the beginning of this year.     Karim MASSIMOV, PRIME MINISTER OF KAZAKHSTAN:   Despite of encouraging reports I doubt that all the regions will be able to utilize all the necessary resources given as part of this program. Therefore I instruct the Ministry of National economy to make proposals this week and next week on Tuesday we will reconsider the funds allocation for those who failed to invest them and give them to those who do that better.   Nurly zhol program offers support to national economy at the expense of investment projects implementation. Creation of hundreds of thousands of new jobs and growth of national economy even in the harsh period of global economic stagnation is the merit of Nurly Zhol program.

Extraction works at Kashagan field to start by end of 2016

The International Forum on Industrial Safety of oil and gas in the Caspian region was held in Atyrau. Experts talked about the need to develop and prepare the legislative framework which will outline commercial oil production at Kashagan. The hydrocarbon trade in the field located in the Kazakhstan’s sector of the Caspian Sea is due to start this year. Why 150,000 penguins have died in Antarctica – video explainer

An estimated 150,000 Adelie penguins living in Cape Denison, Antarctica, have died after a giant grounded iceberg forced them to trek 60km to the sea for food. In 2010 a colossal iceberg measuring 2900sq km became trapped in the bay, rendering the colony effectively landlocked.
