IACEP Participated in the International 'Caspian Hackathon 2026'

The international 'Caspian Hackathon' has concluded in the city of Aktau, held as part of 'Caspian Sea Action Week 2026' and aimed at finding modern technological solutions to environmental problems of the Caspian Sea.

Representatives of the RSE on JSC 'Information and Analytical Center for Environmental Protection' of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan participated in the event. The hackathon brought together young teams, IT specialists, students, environmentalists, and experts from the Caspian region countries, becoming a platform for developing innovative solutions in the field of environmental protection.

During the hackathon, teams developed projects for the development of environmental volunteering, effective management of coastal areas, digitalization of environmental education, as well as improvement of marine ecosystem monitoring systems and environmental data management.

Participants refined their ideas with the support of experts and mentors, created MVPs, and prepared projects for the final defense. Following the technical selection, 30 projects made it to the final.

The winners were:

  • Qyzyl Jebe — 1st place, 3,000,000 tenge;
  • Quasar — 2nd place, 2,000,000 tenge;
  • MADER — 3rd place, 1,000,000 tenge;
  • Khudaferin — 3rd place, 1,000,000 tenge.

Six more teams — IT LICEUM, QaspiLab, AbdraZhol, JAIYQ, CaspianExpert, and Cyber Nomads — were awarded encouragement prizes of 500,000 tenge each. The total prize fund of the hackathon was 10,000,000 tenge.

The 'Caspian Hackathon' became a platform for exchanging experience, developing technological initiatives, and finding practical solutions aimed at preserving the unique ecosystem of the Caspian Sea.

Further development of the presented projects and their practical application can make a significant contribution to solving current environmental problems and preserving the Caspian Sea for future generations.
